US reaction to assassination of Russian journalist discredits them

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova gives press briefing
Moscow, Aug 23 (Prensa Latina) The reaction of the US State Department to the assassination of Russian journalist Daria Duguina discredits the activities of the US in the field of human rights, said the spokeswoman for the Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

“The State Department’s reaction to the assassination of Daria Duguina and the evidence presented by Russia of Ukraine’s involvement discredits the international activity of the United States in the human rights track,” the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman wrote on Telegram.

Zakharova stated that the spokesman for the US body Ned Price stated on Monday that Washington unequivocally condemns the assassination of civilians wherever it occurs when commenting on the death of the young Russian activist. However, the official said he had nothing to declare about the case, except that Ukraine denied any involvement in the attack.

“Washington has no moral right to judge human rights in remote parts of the world, since the assassination of the journalist is not even being commented on from that side, which is so important to the US authorities,” said the diplomat, who added that The White House apparently did not realize that the case involves a public figure.

Daria Duguina, 30-years-old, daughter of philosopher and activist Aleksandr Dugin, known for his anti-Western positions, died on the night of August 20th when her vehicle exploded on a highway in the Moscow region while on the way back from the Tradition literary and musical festival, which she attended as the guest of honor.

The Russian Investigative Committee reported that an explosive device was planted in the car and detonated remotely.

On August 22nd, the Russian Federal Security Service reported that the assassination was prepared by the Ukrainian special service and perpetrated by the Ukrainian Natalia Vovk, who fled to Estonia after committing the crime. However, the adviser to the Presidential Office in Kiev, Mikhail Podoliak, quickly denied Ukraine’s involvement in the crime.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding the deceased the Order of Bravery posthumously.
