The DGA said that 401,117 items have been seized so far this year, including weapons and ammunition, while last year only 300,791 were seized.
The general director of Customs, Eduardo Sanz, stated that the entity will continue to firmly combat the illegal transfer of goods through the country’s ports, airports and border customs.
He also stressed that since the installation of a new X-ray scanner last February, the entity has dealt heavy blows to smuggling. He described the equipment as “highly efficient” in detecting multimillion caches and combating illicit arms trafficking.
