During an extended meeting, the Beirut branch of the Basic Education Teachers Association presented the situation the teachers are experiencing due to the delay in their fees, the social assistance payment for May and June and the absence of transportation subsidy from February to date.

In the face of this panorama, Hussein Jawad, president of the Association, stressed that the beginning of the new school year will depend on the full payment of the teachers’ fees by the owners, contractors or their subordinates. In a communique, Jawad called on the head of the Accounting Department at the Ministry of Education to expedite all the relevant procedures for the benefit of Lebanese teachers.
