The agreement allows the Indian company to use Volkswagen’s Modular Electric Propulsion platform, which provides uniform technology for various models of electric cars.
The European producer indicated this alliance as “strategic”, and foresees a volume of more than one million units by the end of the year.
Likewise, both companies are analyzing the possibility of expanding cooperation to other vehicle projects and the manufacture of batteries.
The automobile business in India is very competitive and is considered among the five largest in the world, with some three million new registrations every year.
This is not Volkswagen’s first attempt to become a supplier to this market for low-priced vehicles.
