A department of the Communist Party of China prohibited the entry of said Taiwanese individuals and their relatives to the mainland of the country, Hong Kong and Macao, in addition to the possibility of holding exchanges and cooperation with Chinese companies, and stated that more penalties are expected and the punishment will last forever.
According to the source, China will severely punish more separatists and anyone who defies the law.
The sanctions are part of Beijing’s response to the trip made by a delegation of five US lawmakers, led by Senator Ed Markey.
The congressmen arrived in Taipei on Sunday unannounced, spoke with Taiwanese leader Tsai Ing-wen on Monday, and met with other government and private sector representatives before ending their two-day stay.
China expressed its rejection of this and accused the White House of seeking confrontation, amid tensions over a recent visit by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
In addition, the People’s Liberation Army of China immediately organized new drills around Taiwan, which augurs that Beijing will proceed with actions that reinforce its position in the face of what it considers a new challenge in the most sensitive issue of relations with the United States.
