cubanos-europa-matanzas-300x200
Paris, Aug 15 (Prensa Latina) Cuban residents in Europe thanked on Monday as part of organizations and individually the response by the Government and the people of the island to the serious accident that occurred at the Matanzas Supertanker Base.

In an initiative of the Together For Cuba platform, accompanied by members of the Movement of Meetings of Cuban Residents in Europe (ECRE), they supported with signatures or virtually the recognition to the country’s leadership, specialized forces and solidarity friends from all over the world for the management and actions in the face of what happened.

The five days after the incident broke out were long, interminable and anguishing, we all lived with our breath suspended, our heartbeats with each heartbeat of the homeland, our people and those who fought there that infernal monster that tried to devour everything, they wrote in an open letter.

On Friday, August 5, an electrical discharge hit one of the fuel storage tanks at the Supertanker Base in the western province of Matanzas, unleashing explosions and a fierce fire that claimed several lives and left more than 100 injured, as well as considerable material damages.

Our condolences to family members and friends, colleagues, and the people of Cuba for those heroes fallen in action, reflects the text supported by Cuban residents in Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, the United Kingdom and other countries.

The open letter salutes Cuba’s President Miguel Díaz-Canel, Mexico’s Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro, and Russia’s Vladimir Putin, as well as Pope Francis and “an endless list” of friends across the world for their gestures of solidarity and messages of encourage.
