For the UN, this year’s celebrations aim to get all generations into action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and leave no one behind.
It also aims to raise awareness of certain barriers to intergenerational solidarity, in particular age discrimination, which affects young and older people, and has detrimental effects on society as a whole.
Solidarity among generations is fundamental to sustainable development, the international organization warned.
