Addressing the International Conference “Resistance and its axis between defense and aggression” held in Beirut, the head of the Cuban mission in Lebanon Jorge León condemned Tel Aviv’s recent military operation against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
In his speech, the Cuban diplomat expressed his solidarity with the victims and injured; at the same time he described the criminal action as a direct threat to stability and security in the Middle East.
León took the opportunity to reiterate his gratitude for the solidarity towards Cuba after the fire caused by a lightning strike on one of the oil storage tanks located in the industrial zone of Matanzas on August 5.
He also condemned and demanded the end of the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for more than six decades.
In this regard, the Caribbean representative stated that the Cuban Resolution that calls for the end of the US policy will be submitted to the United Nations General Assembly on September.
Members of parties and political movements, academics, intellectuals and diplomatic sources accredited in the country attended the political meeting convened by the World Meeting to support the election of the resistance.
