Most of the oil fields are located in the northeastern region of al-Jazira illegally occupied by Pentagon’s troops and its local separatist militia Syrian Democratic Forces, Tome said during the semi-annual meeting of directors of the Ministry and of the institutions and companies dependent on it.

He revealed that losses in the oil sector amounted to 105 billion dollars, while 235 workers of the industry lost their lives, 46 were injured and 112 are still missing after being kidnapped.

As for gas, the daily production reached 11.3 million cubic meters of which 11.1 million cubic meters are delivered to the country’s power plants.

The minister also announced that phosphate production during the first half of the current year was one million tons for 70 percent compliance with the plan.

Before the war, Syria produced more than 380,000 barrels of crude oil per day, while at present it imports oil to meet its local needs, estimated at 165,000 barrels per day.
