In a message of support to the Cuban people for the raging fire in the city of Matanzas, the solidarity group acknowledged the offer by the United States to Cuba of technical assistance, but they called for an end to the blockade that, it assured, causes serious humanitarian damage to the last of the Argentina, inhabitants of Cuba.
Similarly, the Association asked the Australian government to assist the Caribbean nation in these difficult times.
In addition, it offered all support to combat the incident at the super tanker base in the western Cuban province.
In this regard, its members assured that their thoughts are with the families of the victims and those injured by the fire that has so far caused one death, more than a hundred injured and 14 missing, mostly firefighters.
They also expressed their respect for the shows of support coming from the international community, fundamentally towards the countries of Venezuela and Mexico, whose specialists are fighting to extinguish the fire together with Cuban firefighters and experts.
The Australia-Cuba Friendship Association also recognized the strength of Cubans’ experience, which, it assured, propelled them to emerge victorious in challenges prior to the Revolution and the people.
Finally, its members reiterated their willingness to do whatever is within their reach to help the people of the island in the face of this tragedy.
