Washington, Aug 2 (Prensa Latina) The job openings available in the United States dropped to a still-high 10.7 million in June from 11.3 million in May, at a time domestic economy has shown a high inflation rate, the Labor Department (DOL) reported Tuesday.

Regarding DOL´s monthly report, the number of Americans who quit their jobs fell slightly for the first time in six months, while layoffs slid from 1.4 million in May to 1.3 million in June.

Domestic economy is under pressure as the Federal Reserve raised interest rates three-quarters more, in order to reduce inflation showing highest level in four decades (9.1%).

Financial analysts expect DOL´s employment report, due to be published on Friday, to show that another 250,000 jobs were added in previous month, however, it will be the lowest figure since past December 2020.
