Havana, Aug 1 (Prensa Latina) Women and men from Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru and the Dominican Republic on Monday were part of the 27th Latin American and Caribbean Brigade of Voluntary Work and Solidarity with Cuba.

Such a solidarity brigade, made up of 80 people, was established on Monday at the Julio Antonio Mella International Camp, located in the western province of Artemisa.

The brigade members will be deeply involved through August 14 in productive work in order to express their strong support for the Cuban people. They will also pay a visit to economic, historical and cultural centers and will participate in a Solidarity Meeting for the 96th anniversary of the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro´s birth.

After being the solidarity brigade established, Fernando González, President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP, in Spanish), heaped praise on the resumption of these solidarity groups´ activities suspended for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

González stressed that Cuban scientists´ breakthroughs and the country´s health system hard work made it possible to control Covid-19 nationwide in spite of shortage of material resources, largely due to the impacts of the US blockade against Cuba.

Plus, he added that even amid difficulties caused by the hostile US sanctions and the negative impacts of the global crisis triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Cuban government and people continue to build a society based on social justice as major goal.

ICAP´s President thanked support of humble people from all over the globe, who identify with the Cuban people´s cause, according to the Cuban News Agency (CAN, in Spanish).
