“I join in the congratulations from Army General Raúl Castro Ruz to the members of the National Civil Defense General Staff on the occasion of its 60th anniversary.
The Revolution has in you one of its great strengths. A hug to all. #CubaVive”, the president wrote on his Twitter account.
In his congratulatory letter, Raul Castro highlighted the role of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, in the founding and development of the Civil Defense system and its National General Staff (Emndc).
Continue perfecting this work, studying, researching, especially because meteorological phenomena are increasingly dangerous as a result of climate change and our Island will always be exposed to them, the Army General noted.
Likewise, Division General Ramon Pardo Guerra, head of the Emndc, noted the development achieved by that institution and denounced the impact of the United States blockade on Cuba, as it limits access to advanced technologies.
The Civil Defense System was created on July 31, 1962, and since then it has stood out for the preservation of the population and its material resources in the face of alleged natural or technological disasters.
