The work of Cuban scientists, together with political will, made the Caribbean country be the first nation to vaccinate its children.

The dedication between the Ministries of Public Health and Education, with support from Cuba’s leadership, has guaranteed the magnificent results of vaccination against the Covid-19 pandemic, the Foreign Ministry wrote on its Twitter account.

On September 4, 2021, the emergency authorization for the use of Soberana 02 in children aged 2 to 18 was approved, and the following day the national vaccination campaign began in central Cienfuegos province.

In addition, with the combination of Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus, between 1.6 and 1.7 million children were immunized with more than five million doses, with only 350 local adverse effects.

Likewise, the thousands of convalescent children were vaccinated, which raises the number of immunized people to 1.8 million, after the authorization of Soberana Plus as a single booster dose.

This effort made it possible to start the school year with all Cuban children vaccinated.
