According to the daily report from the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), 717 patients are in hospitals or at home nationwide, 262 of whom are suspected cases and 455 are active patients.
Of the new cases, 73 were contacts of confirmed patients, six of them were infected abroad and the source of contagion was not identified in nine cases.
To date, the number of recovered patients is 1,098,845 (99.2 percent of all cases).
Of all active cases reported nationwide, five patients are being treated in intensive care units: one is in a critical condition and four who are seriously ill.
So far, Cuba has accumulated 1,107,888 contagions since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in March 2020, and the death toll remains at 8,529.
Cuba’s lethality rate is 0.77 percent, a figure that is much lower than the world’s 1.11 percent and 1.64 percent in the Americas, according to data provided by MINSAP.
