Cienfuegos, Cuba, Jul 26 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Tuesday thanked the world solidarity that contributes to his country's resistance against US blockade.

In his closing speech for the National Rebellion Day, the president stated he was moved to recall the reactions of support from governments, institutions, religious leaders, artists, trade unions, social movements, friendship associations and Cuban residents abroad, included in the United States.

Diaz-Canel claimed that Cuba has been aided by 43 countries at a time when the US blockade was being tightened and the Covid-19 pandemic was having its greatest impact.

In his speech before 10,000 people from Cienfuegos, the Cuban head of State thanked in that regard to Venezuela, Bolivia, Mexico, Vietnam, Nicaragua, China, Russia, Italy, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Japan and the Dominican Republic, as well as businessmen and friendship associations, among other actors of world solidarity.

He made special mention about supports coming from the United States, included those of the Interfaith Foundation for Community Organization (IFCO)/Pastors for Peace, the Bridges of Love solidarity project and the Venceremos Brigade.

Diaz-Canel expressly mentioned the support for Cuba’s resistance to US blockade by Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, while emphasizing that every year at the United Nations General Assembly, the international community expresses its majority vote against the US blockade against Cuba, a country that enjoys recognition and prestige for its active involvement in international forums and its policy of cooperation with the world.

He recalled that Cuba passed a new Constitution with guarantees for all, which led to the new Family Code Bill that he called to support in the referendum scheduled for September.
