The Forensic Medical Service of the State Judiciary confirmed the death by “heat stroke” of a 33-year-old person, who arrived at the General Hospital of Mexicali suffering from massive heatstroke.
According to the forensic analysis conducted after the autopsy, the man was severely affected on Wednesday when the temperature reached 50 degrees Celsius in Mexicali, which has been hit this year by the hottest temperatures in Mexico.
Last year there were 32 deaths linked to weather conditions, most of them due to heat stroke.
The Ministry of Health and the Red Cross reported that care for dehydration has increased since the heat wave began, which has consistently lasted 40 days in Baja California.
This week has been the hottest so far, which explains why five of the nine have died in recent days due to the heat wave. Meteorology indicates that, officially, the heat wave began on July 12th in Baja California.
For the rest of the season, the temperature is expected to range between 40 and 47 degrees Celsius, prompting the authorities to call on the population to take all measures and protect children and the elderly in particular.
