The Ministry of Emergency Management mentioned floods and hail storms that have hit the country most frequently from January to June, and also highlighted the devastating impact of droughts, frosts, earthquakes, snowfalls and forest and grass fires.
As a result of these events, around 39.1 million people were affected and 1.28 million of them had to be relocated someplace else.
In addition, more than 18,000 houses were destroyed and considerable damage to 3.6 million hectares of cultivated land was registered in the country.
China is currently suffering from the effects of droughts, torrential rains and heat waves in different parts of the country, forcing frequent alerts to respond to contingencies.
The National Meteorological Center renewed this Thursday the alert for the persistence of torrential downpours accompanied by storms and gales in the provinces of Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan, Shaanxi and Chongqing, expected to last until Friday.
