At the debate on a report on the inspection of tourist activity, presented to the Commission for Attention to Services, at the National People’s Power Assembly, it was learned that hotels developed an investment process to improve their standards, with a view to July and August.
The document indicated that, despite the recovery process of the housing plant, 13.2 percent of rooms are still out of service, including 5,617 that are planned to be incorporated before December.
The legislative control found that the indicators regarding visitors’ satisfaction in Cuba were evaluated mostly in a positive way and the satisfaction from the national market grows.
However, dissatisfaction persists with car rentals, the variety of food offers, currency exchange and community hygiene, transportation, water supply and lighting.
The sector has been severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and the intensification of the United States blockade, as well as a discrediting campaign on social networks, in response to which strategies are promoted to access new markets and achieve a greater number of linkages with local producers.
The parliamentarians highlighted that Cuba is a safe tourist destination, where citizens’ tranquility, culture, sovereignty and quality are fundamental attributes that identify it.
