The survey will be led by the fourth ship deployed in the region, named Abdulhamid Han, according to Oktay’s statements released by the Anatolia news agency.
Turkey and Greece have been in a bitter dispute for years over control of natural resources in the Mediterranean.
The disagreements brought both countries to the brink of a military conflict last year, settled with the intervention of the international community.
Ankara also denounced on several occasions the prospecting for oil and gas carried out by the Cyprus authorities and stressed that the Turkish Cypriots also have the right to search for resources in the region.
