On his Twitter profile, the president wrote, “A real pleasure to receive at the Palace of the Revolution US youths who are visiting Cuba these days.”
“We talked about economy, socialism, even music and sports. We reconfirmed the bridges of solidarity and love that unite our peoples. #CubaPorLaPaz,” he added.
On Friday, Diaz-Canel met with some 20 US university students with strong ties with Cuba. He was accompanied by Culture Minister Alpidio Alonso, and Abel Prieto, president of Casa de las Americas, the institution that sponsors the summer course.
During the meeting, the head of State shared his certainty that there can be “many bridges” between Cuba and the United States, because “our peoples are going to know each other better, they are going to love each other more.”
According to the University’s website, the aim of this program is to foster research-oriented experiences in which keynote speeches and interactions with counterparts from different countries will provide a deeper understanding of global issues.
