Prime Minister of Hungary doubts effectiveness of sanctions

hungarian-pm-calls-for-lifting-sanctions-on-russia
Budapest, Jul 15 (Prensa Latina) Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban considered that the sanctions applied by the European Union against Russia do not help Ukraine and only harm the European states themselves.

“There are countries that are committed to the policy of restrictions, but Brussels must admit that it was a mistake, that this strategy did not live up to expectations and even had the opposite effect,” Orban said.

“They thought this policy would hurt the Russians, but it hurts us even more,” Orban said of EU members favoring putting further pressure on Moscow.

Referring to the discussion in the EU of the seventh package of sanctions against Russia, he recalled that Hungary has always opposed them, since they do not help Ukraine.

According to Orban, the policy of sanctions does not shorten the duration of the war.

“Europe must admit that it has chosen the wrong tactics”, he added.
