The residence of the Cuban Embassy in Rome welcomed a large representation of politicians, parliamentarians, businessmen, artists, as well as members of the diplomatic staff, solidarity groups with the island and Cuban residents in this nation.

Cuban Ambassador to Italy Mirta Granda recalled the historic significance of the attack on the Moncada Barracks, which marked the beginning 69 years ago of the final stage of the struggles for the independence of her country, and concluded with the triumph of the Revolution.

Granda expressed gratitude for those attending the activity for their support for her country in different spheres and particularly acknowledged support for the community of her compatriots who live in Italy and “the courageous and tireless work done by the Movement of Solidarity.”

During the event, famous Cuban singer Haila Maria Mompie, who is visiting Italy, gave a concert in which, with her interpretative quality, charisma and Cubanness, made the audience dance to the rhythm of the best music of her country.
