The last day of the meeting is also giving the participants the opportunity to visit the Mariel Special Development Zone, where three of 11 Mexican businesses are operating on the island.
They are divided into four international economic associations, five joint ventures and two with entirely Mexican capital.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas, and Mexico’s Undersecretary of Industry and Commerce Hector Guerrero attended the opening session of the Forum.
More than 100 Mexican businessmen and some 150 Cuban entrepreneurs are participating in the meeting.
They received an update on the Cuban economy and learned that it continued in gradual recovery during the first half of 2022.
Economy and Planning Minister Alejandro Gil offered the Mexican businessmen an overview of the Cuban economy in 2021 and 2022, and explained that his country has been in gradual recovery for four consecutive quarters.
Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca also ratified as priorities for the foreign capital investment in the country the production of food, renewable energies, productive linkages, diversification of exports and import substitution.
For two days, participants exchanged on agricultural food, logistics, tourism, transportation, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, renewable energies and culture.
