“Five Russian citizens followers of the international terrorist organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, currently operating in Syria, were detained in the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria and in the provinces of Astrakhan, Volgograd, Samara and Moscow,” a statement released by the Sputnik agency reports.
The FSB detailed that the arrested were collecting donations and then sending them to the militants in the part of the Syrian de-escalation zone of Idlib, under control of terrorists.
According to the FSB, the Russian authorities opened criminal proceedings against those arrested for assistance to terrorism.
