This is the first attendance of the Costa Rican foreign minister to a UN meeting, since he took office on May 8 within the new Government of President Rodrigo Chaves, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship announced that Andre will hold meetings with strategic partners, but without mentioning some of them.
The 2022 Forum, which started on Tuesday, July 5, and will conclude on Friday, July 15, is being held under the theme “Building Back Better from Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19), while advancing in the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
The meeting reviews in-depth Goal 4 on quality education, Goal 5 on gender equality, Goal 14 on life below water, Goal 15 on life on terrestrial ecosystems and Goal 17 on partnerships for the SDGs.
The political forum also analyzes the different impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic across all SDGs and the integrated, indivisible and interlinked nature of the SDGs, while it addresses the actions needed to reverse the impact of the pandemic and move to fulfill them in the 2030 Agenda.
