The International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach confirmed the meeting in the latest edition of the publication belonging to the world sports federation Actualidad Olímpica.

According to the publication, cited by Jit, Roberto León Richards, head of the Cuban Olympic Committee, and his US counterpart Susanne Lyons held talks with Bach in the Swiss city of Lausanne.

The meeting served to reveal the working interests between the two institutions and to strengthen cooperation in the sporting and scientific fields.

They also addressed important issues closely related to their respective athletes´ trainings for the 2024 Paris and 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, the media outlet added.

After completing his stay at the IOC headquarters, Richards informed Jit that Bach had received some details about current situation in Cuba and the scenarios in which the Cuban athletes are preparing.

Plus, Richards has revealed how the constant hostility of the US government towards Cuba, which has been imposing a bitter economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba for more than 60 years, any possibility of rapprochement and bilateral cooperation undermines.

So much so that sports exchanges between the two nations are nearly zero, but the majority of the US population wants to improve relations between our countries, Richards said.

According to Richards, Cuban government´s support for the sports movement continues and Cuba is preparing to face the fundamental challenges of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
