In a communique issued here, the Government authorities welcomed the removal of the name of its armed forces from the list of the parties involved in grave violations of children’s rights in war situations.
This removal is mentioned in the UN Secretary-General’s report on armed conflict No. (A/76/871-S/2022/493) of 2021, the text stated.
According to the Yemeni representation, this is a recognition to the efforts made by the Government, as of the signing of the action plan and an agenda drawn up along with the multilateral organization.
This plan seeks to prevent the recruitment and use of children in the conflict, and includes the implementation of activities, workshops, training courses and field visits in order to assess the situation of those minors, the statement indicates.
On Monday, the UN Security Council addressed the situation in Yemen and advocated for taking advantage of the humanitarian truce agreed to promote a political process to end the war.
