In his appearance on the Russian YouTube Europe channel for Cuba, the diplomat denounced the media operations against the largest of the Antilles are carried out with millions of dollars and using the most sophisticated information technologies and disinformation methods.
The events of July 11, 2021 corresponded to an attempted coup against the Cuban Revolution defeated by the unity of the revolutionary people, Lazo recalled.
In that sense, he added that it is evident that once again, there is a persistent desire on the part of Washington and the counterrevolutionary forces to take advantage of the difficult economic situation and try to provoke internal destabilization.
“Like all countries, Cuba is going through a difficult economic situation caused by the world crisis, the high prices of fuel and food,” said the minister.
In this regard, he explained that, particularly in the Caribbean island, the impact of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade increased significantly in the context of Covid-19 and based on more than 200 extremely aggressive measures taken during the administration of former President Donald Trump (2017-2021) and still in force.
Lazo added that the White House’s attempts to suffocate a nation as small as Cuba have been one of the main engines for the Government of Havana to continue looking for alternatives at a global level to make up for the deficit of supplies for the correct development of the society.
“Despite all these attempts, despite all the lies fabricated against Cuba, the truth is that the majority of the Cuban people and millions of friends in the world support the revolutionary government of the island,” he emphasized.
Our people live in complete peace, continue working to build the country that we sovereignly decided to defend, but this, as you know, does not generate headlines, it is not reflected in the news, Lazo explained to the participants in the program.
At the end of his speech, the diplomat thanked the Russian authorities and friends of solidarity for their firm position in favor of lifting the economic, commercial and financial blockade, and condemning all the aggressive policy of the US government against Cuba.
The Russian channel on YouTube Europa for Cuba dedicated this Monday a special edition called The counterrevolution did not happen, and it will not happen!, a strong condemnation of the destabilization actions that the United States promotes and finances against the island to impose a regime change.
