Mikhail Mizintsev, chief of Russia’s National Defense Management Center, said in statements to the press that the established mechanisms enhance the area and become it a safe strip for navigation.
“The 139-mile-long and three-mile-wide corridor towards the Black Sea operates from 08:00 to 19:00 hours, Moscow time, and will be used to exit the ports of Kherson, Nikolaev, Ochakov, Odessa and Yuzhny in the southwestern direction of the territorial sea of Ukraine,” Mizintsev said.
He also stated that the 115-mile-long and two-mile-wide corridor towards the Sea of Azov will be available 24 hours a day, and will be used to exit from the port of Mariupol to the Black Sea.
In this regard, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said earlier that the safety corridors created by Russia can be used by any cargo ship that is still waiting for departure from the Black Sea ports.
Russia launched an armed operation in Ukraine on February 24, after the authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics requested help to repel the increase in aggression and the heavy air strikes from Kiev.
