The activity was attended by members of the drafting group of the regulations, the Minister of Justice, Oscar Silvera Martínez, and the president of the permanent work commission of Constitutional and Legal Affairs in the Assembly, José Luis Toledo Santander, who clarified doubts about the changes in the document compared to previous versions.

According to Silvera, 15 thousand legal professionals participated in the elaboration of the text and 49.15 percent of the articles were modified.

The members of the drafting committee of the project worked on the study and analysis of the criteria collected during the popular consultation, carried out throughout the country from February 1 to April 30, and in which more than six million people participated. citizens.

The legal document will be submitted to the scrutiny of the deputies in the ninth regular session of the National Assembly, scheduled for the 21st of this month at the Havana Convention Center.

The Code project, which incorporates novelties on parental responsibility, marriage, adoption, combating gender-based violence and care for the elderly, will go to a popular referendum next September.

If the proposal is approved, it will replace the current regulations dating from 1976 and will continue the rights contained in the 2019 Constitution and international treaties to which Havana is a party.
