Venezuela marks 211th anniversary of Independence Declaration

Venezuela, conmemoración, independencia
Caracas, Jul 5 (Prensa Latina) The Government and people of Venezuela, along with the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), on Tuesday celebrate the 211th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

On Twitter, the Ministry of Defense urged the population to participate in the great civic-military parade convened for the Day of Homeland and the FANB, to be held at the Paseo de los Proceres, in Caracas.

After the first declaration of independence was proclaimed on April 19, 1810 by the Cabildo of Caracas, the first Venezuelan Congress was established on March 2, 1811, with a representation of seven provinces of the then Spanish colony.

On July 5, 1811, the territories of Caracas, Cumana, Barinas, Margarita, Merida, Barcelona and Trujillo declared their independence from the Spanish Crown, established a new nation based on republican and federal principles, and abolished the monarchy under the values of equality of individuals.

The Declaration of Independence Act also enshrined the constitutional principle and was radically opposed to the political, cultural and social practices imposed during the 300 years of colonial regime in the Americas.
