This was done by the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Anayansi Rodríguez and the regional director for Latin America and the Caribbean of the UNDP, Luis Felipe López-Calva, during a meeting in this capital.
The deputy foreign minister described as fruitful the exchange with the also undersecretary general of the United Nations, who is making an official visit to Cuba until next Thursday.
As reported on her Twitter account by the Cuban diplomat, at the meeting she also thanked the UNDP for its position against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, considered the main obstacle to the development of the Caribbean nation.
On this day, López-Calva also confirmed the progress in cooperation projects, in dialogue with the Cuban Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, Elba Rosa Pérez.
The visitor said he was delighted with the meeting, in which he ratified the Program’s support for Cuba in areas such as environmental sustainability, climate change mitigation and the preservation of ecosystems.
During his stay in Havana, the Undersecretary General will exchange with other Cuban authorities on collaboration to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
López-Calva is an economist by profession, with extensive experience as an academic at prestigious universities around the world, in addition to assuming leadership positions in multilateral organizations such as UNDP and the World Bank.
