Superintendent Richard Lopez Vargas stated that the South American nation came out strengthened in the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)’s World Drug Report 2022, SUNAD stated in a press release.
According to the opinion by the international organization, Venezuela does not appear in the list of countries that produce narcotic substances, it does not have drug crops and neither operates in its territory organizations dedicated to illegal drug trafficking, the so-called cartels, Lopez Vargas pointed out.
President Nicolas Maduro recently ratified the commitment by the Bolivarian Government in the fight against drug trafficking, on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, or World Drug Day, marked on June 26.
According to official figures, the National Bolivarian Armed Forces (FANB) and the Venezuelan security agencies exceeded 51 tons of drugs seized in 2021, the highest figure in the last decade.
