During the meeting, which will bring together officials from 20 countries will for four days, South Korea hopes to consolidate cooperation and win the trust of NATO member states, General Park Jeong-hwan said.
According to statements by the chief of the General Staff, Seoul will learn from the alliance’s war experience at the meeting, which was also attended by representatives of six governments with observer status such as South Korea itself, Australia and New Zealand.
Also, the South Korean military will exhibit its high-tech training programs and facilities for reservists, the General said.
The National Reserve Forces Committee of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is charged with providing policy advice to the military alliance on issues such as strengthening reserve readiness, Yonhap said.
Experts warned recently about the potential threat NATO currently poses to the security of the Asia-Pacific region. They also criticized the support that South Korea gives to the organization’s objectives of expanding the war towards that area with its sights set on China and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
