After a break imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic in the last two years, which forced to hold this festival virtually and little face-to-face activity, the Fire Festival resumes its extensive artistic and academic program amid the negative impact of the global economic crisis.
Representatives from some 17 countries are participating in the event, mainly as part of Cuba solidarity groups from several countries, including Puerto Rico.
The festival is dedicated to the 40th anniversary of Casa del Caribe (Caribbean House), the institution that sponsors the evebt; the 40th anniversary of Septeto Turquino (Turquino Septet) and the 30th anniversary of Estudio Teatral Macuba (Macuba Theater Studio), three institutions with a remarkable legacy in Cuba and the region.
The members of the La Caridad de Oriente French Tumba, declared Humankind’s Oral and Intangible Heritage, will be acknowledged as a living and reliable example of the traditional popular culture on the group’s 160th anniversary.
