The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) highlighted that Ever Art crossed the canal with 221,000 tons and more than 24,000 containers on board.
The vessel departed Malaysia to the Netherlands on its first voyage after its construction.
The SCA assigned several veteran and highly experienced transit guides to accompany the vessel on its voyage, SCA Chairman Osama Rabie said.
Built between 1859 and 1869, the 163-kilometer long Suez Canal is a man-made sea-level waterway, connecting the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea.
It handles 10 percent of the global maritime trade.
According to the SCA, the canal recorded revenues of 1.691 billion dollars in 2022’s first quarter, an increase of 20 percent year-on-year, and 6.3 billion dollars in 2021, the highest figure in history in a 12-month period.
