The parliamentary body of the Non-Aligned Movement was established in November 2021 at its inaugural meeting held in Madrid, Spain, within the framework of the 143rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
In accordance with the Madrid Declaration, adopted by the legislators of the NAM, the Parliamentary Network aims to contribute to a greater awareness and promotion of the ideas and principles of the Movement.
Likewise, it is intended to guarantee parliamentary support for the implementation of the bloc’s obligations, provide a framework for cooperation and coordination between parliaments for the exchange of experiences in the field of peace, security, human rights and development .
In addition, it reiterates its unwavering commitment to the principles and objectives of the Non-Aligned Movement, articulated in Bandung (1955) and Belgrade (1961), and expresses its strict adherence to the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
