People urged to wear mask on trains and stations in France

Francia-uso-de-máscara
Paris, Jun 29 (Prensa Latina) The National Society of French Railways (SNCF) insistently recommended the use of the mask in stations and trains in the face of the resurgence of Covid-19, after nearly 150,000 cases were reported on Tuesday.

“We are completely within a logic that invites the strong recommendation to use the mask, both by our staff and by passengers,” the president of the company, Jean-Pierre Farandou, said on the radio; he also said that, in the current scenario, it is best to wear a mask in terminals and on trains.

“We must protect our workers and passengers, although there is no obligation to do so, we call on the civic sense of people,” the official said.

The Minister of Health Brigitte Bourguignon made a similar call on Monday, who considered it a citizen’s duty to wear a mask, even if she did not say it is compulsory.

According to experts, France is facing a seventh wave of Covid-19, with over 60,000 cases as a daily average as a result of the spread of the BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants of Omicron.

In France, the use of the mask ceased to be mandatory on May 16th, prompted by a decrease in cases and the main indicators of Covid-19, which have increased once again in recent days.

Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne asked the prefects to encourage the use of the mask in closed spaces.
