France reports nearly 150,000 Covid-19 cases

Paris, Jun 28 (Prensa Latina) French Public Health Agency on Tuesday reported 147,248 new Covid-19 cases, an unprecedented figure since April, which confirms the seventh pandemic outbreak in the country. The country´s coronavirus-infected people toll rose by 55% in just one week, a huge impact on local hospitals.

As to the Agency´s latest report, as many as 15,496 people are being hospitalized, 397 more than those reported on Monday, 898 of them are in ICUs.

The Agency also reported an incidence rate of 731 Covid-19 infections per 100,000 inhabitants, indicator reporting less than 200 at the beginning of June.

Given the exponential health situation, France´s Health Minister Brigitte Bourguignon on Monday strongly recommended people wearing face coverings when boarding any public transport means.

I would not go as far as an obligation, but I call for its use, which is practically a citizen’s duty, she pointed out.
