The entity announced that the collection delivered by its director, Pedro Simon, much by the authorship of this literary researcher, professor, critic and writer specialized in historical issues, offers an overview of the prima ballerina assoluta’s career.
The ceremony took place at the Aula Magna of the university, and was attended by Felix Ortega, director of Spanish Radio and Television Chair, and Maria Esther Perez, professor at the International University of Valencia.
The list of the donated volumes includes two texts by Jose Lezama Lima about the ballerina, and those entitled “Alicia Alonso: mas alla de la tecnica,” by Maria del Carmen Hechavarria, and “El arte coreografico de Alicia Alonso” and “El Ballet, una devocion,” by Pedro Simon, among others written by this author.
According to the note released by the art gallery, the donation is part of the celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Alicia Alonso Chair, now called Alicia Alonso University Institute of Dance, based in Madrid.
