Likewise, Gustavo Petro on Monday talked by phone to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
“Blinken expressed his congratulations to me and we debated on the Americas´ peace process and actions to be taken on climate change,” Petro tweeted.
On Sunday, during his victory speech, the president-elect proposed the United States and all Latin America to build a dialogue around energy transition amid climate change impact suffered by humanity and the region too.
He stated his administration´s top priority is for Colombia to be at the forefront in the crackdown on climate change.
In his speech before thousands of people, Gustavo Petro assured that, based on this electoral victory given by the Colombian people, his government will be able to propose a dialogue in the Americas without excluding any people or nation.
