Haití-muerte-periodista-abogado
Port-au-Prince, Jun 20 (Prensa Latina) The Association of Haitian Independent Media called to clarify the deaths of a journalist and a lawyer after a senator accused a colleague of being linked to those crimes, it was reported on Monday.

Nehemy Joseph, a reporter of Radio Panic FM station, was killed on October 10, 2019, while Claudy Gassant, a lawyer and former government commissioner, was found dead at a residence in the Dominican Republic on July 31, 2021.

According to statements by Senator Willot Joseph, his former colleague Rony Celestin is involved in those deaths, although he did not provide any evidence.

The Association condemned in a communique that the parliamentarians trivialize the death of the two public figures and called on the authorities to shed light on these facts and put an end to impunity.

Since 2018, at least seven reporters have been killed in Haiti as violence grows in the country, and armed groups control strategic zones, block access roads to Port-au-Prince or disrupt fuel distribution.
