Addressing to the special rapporteur for Violence against Women, its Causes and Consequences, Reem Alsalem, Cuban diplomat Mirthia Julia Brossard assured her country fosters and shields women´s equal rights and opportunities.

In this regard, Ms. Brossard heaped praise on the National Program for the Advancement of Cuban Women, which she termed as cornerstone for policies in favor of women.

Brossard thanked Alsalem for her report, who regretted current violence situation women are being suffered, particularly indigenous women and girls.

According to Alsalem, the Covid-19 pandemic and some measures applied to fight it exacerbated the danger of violence, for which she called for avoiding mistakes in future crises.
