“Let them (Colombians) celebrate the first popular victory. May so many sufferings be cushioned in joy today floods the heart of our Homeland,” petro posted on Twitter, upon being acquainted with the electoral results.
He dedicated this electoral victory for God and for the Colombian People and their history. “Today is the day of the streets and squares,” Petro emphasized, who has called for a great national pact.
In the Sunday´s ballot, Petro and Francia Márquez reached over 10 million votes, becoming the first president and vice president of the alternative and leftist forces in Colombia.
