On Twitter, López Obrador posted that Colombia’s conservatives have always been tenacious. The writer José María Vargas Vila told his country´s dictators “dipped his dagger in holy water before assassinating.”
The Mexican president feels a personal satisfaction for Gustavo Petro’s election victory for his denunciation of the campaign conservatives and fascists had conducted on him and in favor of Uribism.
Just a few days ago, during his morning press briefing, López Obrador gave a boost to the progressive presidential candidate and former guerrilla by condemning he was a victim of a dirty campaign. At that time, the Mexican leader stressed Gustavo Petro was the subject of a “most unworthy” campaign with the purpose of undermining the electoral preferences that place him as favorite candidate to win this Sunday´s run-off.
I’m going to say –just for a moment- that I send a hug to Gustavo Petro from here, and do you know why I hug him? because he is facing up a most undignified and cowardly dirty war.
For years, I encourage and have faith in the people, trust in the people, in the intelligence of the people; there is nothing more than that, López Obrador stressed.
