Along with Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, the Cuban head of State confirmed to the residents that “we will not stop,” alluding to the transformations that are being undertaken in neighborhoods.
He added that today, once again, love was stronger than any burden, the Cuban Presidency published on its Twitter account.
During the meeting, Havana Governor Reynaldo Garcia explained that the local government had adopted the decision to build the houses of 106 families that live 20 and 50 meters from the river in other areas to prevent a recurrence of the damage caused by floods.
In this regard, Diaz-Canel insisted that people must participate in the construction of their homes and noted to authorities the responsibility that these areas are not inhabited again.
He emphasized that the new buildings must be decent houses. He learned that at first the houses with the worst construction status located 50 meters from the riverbanks will be prioritized.
Communist Party and government authorities toured the roads of El Fanguito and talked with neighbors about living conditions and the participation of the inhabitants in the construction and repair of their homes.
According to the Cuban Presidency, Diaz-Canel visited the houses, greeted children, held a new son from this neighborhood in his arms, and visited the community project “La Bibliocasa”, an initiative that he described as emancipatory and which he promised to help with more books.
