Egypt to cooperate with Palestine in gas production

Cairo, Jun 15 (Prensa Latina) Egypt will cooperate with Palestine in the exploitation of its mineral resources, especially in the production of gas off the coast of the Gaza Strip, an official source reported.

The Egyptian Minister of Oil, Tarek El-Molla, ratified the chairman of the board of directors of the Palestine Investment Fund, Mohammed Mustafa, as per a statement from the ministry.

According to the statement, El-Molla ratified Egyt’s support for the right of Palestine to use its natural resources.

For his part, Mustafa thanked the government of Egypt for its cooperation and highlighted the country’s progress in oil and gas production.

Both sides signed a memorandum of understanding on the development of a natural gas field in Gaza territorial waters back in February 2021.

The agreement provides for the extraction and transportation of Natural Gas to Palestinian areas by the Egyptian Natural Gas Company.

The Palestinian authorities accuse Israel of impeding the exploration and production of its natural resources, including gas.
