According to a result by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the first electoral day abroad passed normally and 19,934 nationals cast their vote for the runoff of the 2022 presidential election.
The places with the highest turnout were Miami (the United States) with 3,398 voters, Orlando (the United States), Madrid (Spain) with 944 and New York-Manhattan (the United States) with 832.
From the San Carlos Palace in Bogota, the Election Monitoring Board at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring the elections in the centers established for the present elections.
The National Civil Registry Office reported that the electoral census for the runoff is the same as for the first round, that is, 972,764 Colombians (529,087 women and 443,677 men) are eligible to vote in 1,343 polling stations, distributed in 250 voting centers in 67 countries.
The Colombians could cast their vote until Sunday, June 19, date on which the runoff will be held here for 38,029,475 eligible citizens.
During the first round, held on May 29, leftist and progressive candidate Gustavo Petro obtained 40 percent of the votes, while Rodolfo Hernandez, a billionaire populist and impeached for corruption, reached 28 percent.
