Olivero, who is a lawyer, professor, broadcaster and graduate of the Jose Marti Institute of Journalism in radio journalism, expressed his wish that the news agency continues with its ethical, beautiful and exemplary work.

Olivero, who is also a friend of Cuba and a member of the solidarity with the island, Venezuela and Nicaragua, expressed that Prensa Latina came to be the counterpart of the big press agencies of the European countries, the United States and others dedicated to disinformation, propaganda and the publicity of the capital and its governments.

He added that “Prensa Latina emerges to tell and write the truth, the objectivity of the news and to give a voice to citizens and nations that the traditional media and their owners deny them.”

It also, he said, serves the best interests of humanity and its struggle to change the state of injustice anywhere in the world.

Prensa Latina was founded on the initiative of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara, on June 16, 1959, and its first general director was Argentinian journalist Jorge Ricardo Masetti.

It was founded to disseminate to the world Cuba’s determination to build its own development model, as well as the just emancipation struggles of the peoples of Latin America and other regions.
